Home A-Loam

ColorsSooner or later, it would come time for us to choose exterior colors. Annette hadn't expected it to come sooner, but because of the process Bill is using to put up the brackets, the time for color decisions is now. Woo Hoo! Much excitement!

We knew we wanted to use a color called Sequoia Red for the water table (okay, for those uninitiated -- like Annette -- the water table is the horizontal thingie going around the garage about 3 feet off the ground). But what to do with the other colors?

We consulted with an architect friend whose houses Bill has been building for a lot of years. He suggested a color we had not previously considered, called Loam. SOLD! Time to fill the wheel barrel with Loam and Spanish Sand, the third color. :-]

These colors don't exactly reproduce perfectly on the web, but these are close. The Loam will be used for board and bat, where it will be thinned with water to create a semi-translucent finish. The Spanish Sand will be the stucco color, below the water table The window trim is yet to be decided, but will most likely be Oyster. Yum. The rafters and garage doors will be a redwood-ish stain. Still need to think about the roof color.

The drawing below is our closest estimate as to what the garage will look like.
