And dig it, we did. April 26, 2001 was a good day at our house. We finally
began to dig for the garage foundation! The process until that point was
slow with many small milestones. However, Bill will now be working at
his job on a part-time basis, and devoting more of his time to building
the garage and house, so changes should be more frequent, and hence, more
exciting!
Michael Tel and Oscar Diaz help Bill take measurements.

The measure maestros keep measuring until they get it just right.
A new phrase in Annette's vocabulary: "Burn an inch!"
Michael and Bill attach strings to batter boards so that the measurements
can be exact when digging.
Scott and Bill keep measuring!
Scott just keeps pulling tools of all sizes out of his shop. Meet
Big Blue, his very own, er, vintage dump truck.
Big Blue's cab. Notice the new upholstery! Ooooooo!
The first shovel full of dirt! The official ground breaking! Much
excitement!
But, as usual, the dogs are not impressed.
Not only did we break ground, but we broke Big Blue! Luckily Scott
can fix just about anything.
A man, his rented tool, and his dog. What more does a guy need?
Woo hoo! The first shovel full! |
That dirt's gotta go somewhere -- into Blue it goes.
Bill gets arr-tees-teek with his construction photography.
The trenches begin to take shape.
Gimme an "L"!
So many ways to maintain a positive attitude during construction.
:-)

Blue takes a rest after a hard day.
