Snow? In April? In California?
On Move Day? You Betcha!
First came the cold, bitter wind. Then the electricity went out in the Sunnyvale house. Then an alarm went off in the moving truck that said the brakes were about to fail. It was a false alarm, but we listened to a loud, shrill "BREEEEEEEEE" for 90 minutes. We almost took a hammer to the dashboard in an attempt to find the alarm. Then, over at the new house, it started to hail. Then rain. Then snow. Sigh. Was this day ever going to end?
If not for the help of some hearty, generous souls, that day wouldn't have ended. The hall of fame for friends includes:
