Mariachis 'R Us

Before we completed our move, we installed a corded telephone into the house and immediately noticed that we were picking up a Mexican radio station when we placed a call. Although we do enjoy lots of kinds of music, and Mariachi is certainly fun, this can get more than a little annoying.

We discovered that we could walk around and the radio frequency would become louder or softer. Was someone running a local low-watt radio station? Could this be connected to the Mariachi band that rehearses in the yard down the street? We were picking up the signal with our corded and cordless phones, so what's it all mean?

Magically, the radio station piped down around the time that we replaced the battery on our cordless phone. How could that be connected since it was happening with the corded phone before the cordless phone was moved over from the old house? Mysteries abound.

Okay, I know what you're saying. It's not so bad. Mariachi music is kind of peppy and fun. Just try talking on the phone to an executive at a company where you would like to work when the radio station cuts in. Ouch! The guy said it made him want to eat Mexican food...thank goodness for his sense of humor!
