Every Job Site Needs a Dog
Think about it. Every construction site seems to have a dog. Sometimes
it's there to guard the tools, and sometimes it's there to keep the hard-working
carpenters happy.
So, our natural next step in our big remodel is to bring a dog into our
family and become a pack. Meet Nicki.
Nicki came to us via the Santa Clara Valley Humane Society. We spent
an exhausting day there meeting a lot of the dogs who kept saying to us,
"Pick me! Pick me!" The choice of bringing home only one dog
was a lot tougher than we thought, and when we arrived back home, all
three of us promptly took a nap.
She's a great dog, except for that cat-terrorizing thing she does. Ah,
well. It's a way to meet the neighbors, although not under the best of
circumstances...
We had a hard time naming her, and since it cost us over $200 to walk
her out the door of the Humane Society, we named her Nickelodeon, and
call her Nicki for short. She lived up to her name when she went to the
vet for the first time, but she's worth it.
She needed to adjust to riding in the car, but since she goes to work
with Bill most days, she's beginning to love it. We took her on a long
trip to Claremont, CA over the Fourth of July, but this time, we didn't
feed her right before we put her in the car. We're learning!
One of Nicki's favorite things is to dance around small children as they
walk down the sidewalk, and she even followed a gaggle of kids into a
Memorial Day barbecue. Again, another method of meeting the neighbors...
We hope you get a chance to meet her soon!
