An Overloaded Fusebox
Part 1
One of our first projects is to replace the outdated fusebox with circuit
breakers. The fusebox is only rated for 20 and 10 amp fuses, but someone
put in 30 amp fuses all around. Eventually, we will rewire the whole house
(when the plaster and sheet rock are off the walls) but our first step
is to get rid of the fusebox.
Our electrician friend Glenn Russell inspected the old box and gave us
a shopping list. Ever been pitied at Home Depot? Well, we have! When other
customers saw our cart full of what we needed for this project, person
after person wished us luck and seemed to feel happier about their own
project ("My project isn't anywhere near what they have to
do...").
We should be installing the new box during the weekend of July 17 and
18. Wish us luck!
Part 2
For the actual installation work, Bill again enlisted the help of the
truly talented Glenn Russell, AKA electrician-extraordinaire. Bill and
Glenn have worked together on a few projects, and they also trade guitar
riffs occasionally.
We started to notice a strange thing throughout the work on the fusebox...the
really scary action figure that we found in one of the bushes awhile back
started popping up in the middle of the project. We believe that he is
there to be a protector, rather than to cause trouble. At least we hope!
He promises to watch over the entire project, chasing away evil spirits
and grumpy inspectors as needed. We'll take all the help we can get!
Glenn disconnects the power, a good first step.
